Brazilian Government RansomwareThe bad guys managed to fully encrypt Brazil's Superior Court of Justice (SCJ), Ministry of Health, and Government of the DF this week. Technicians from SCJ discovered that there was a ransomware request that was up for negotiation.

While the message is vague it is every indication that it is indeed a ransomware attack:

Bleeping Computer recently interviewed Brazilian Journalist Mateus Nunes and he had this to say, "The Secretariat for Information and Communication Technology (STI) is working on systems recovery to restore all court services as quickly as possible."

Organizations (especially in the government sector) should work to prevent these types of calculated attacks in the first place. New-school security awareness training can teach your employees to recognize these types of attacks and follow security best practices.
