Leave it to the wordsmiths of the British Press to come up with a catchy title like this... However, the topic is dead serious.

They said: "High-end French lingerie firm Lise Charmel has gone into receivership after being floored by a ransomware attack that encrypted its entire computer system and paralysed the company for a month during which it lost "millions".

Founded in 1950, the women’s underwear group from Lyon, southeastern France, has more than 4,000 outlets around the world. “Our entire chain is completely computerised on servers, from design and production to logistics and stores,” Olivier Piquet, the group’s general director told local newspaper La Tribune de Lyon.

“At seven o’clock in the morning on November 8, staff in the logistics service found their workstations encrypted,” he said. A ransomware virus had infiltrated the entire network, blocking the computers of all 1,150 employees around the world in the targeted attack” "

They refused to give in to blackmail, even if it meant having to rebuild everything. They have been placed in the French equivalent of Chapter 11 "for protection" during their downtime from early November until January, according to its director general.

Piquest said: ""All our partners, producers and customers, who have formed a super solidarity chain, are aware of and support us. Because these months of forced stop, the time to redeploy all the systems, were difficult with "a shortfall still to be specified but which probably amounts to several million euros".
